The English that gets you registered, admitted, or through the interview.
MedFluent Academy provides specialist English tutoring for two groups: international students applying to UK universities, and healthcare professionals working toward NMC, HCPC, or GMC registration. Every tutor is a practising or qualified UK healthcare professional with real clinical experience.
Built around the exam or interview you're actually facing.
Not general conversation practice — lessons targeted at the specific score, station, or question format your pathway requires.

OET or IELTS? Depends who's asking.
Every UK regulator sets its own English threshold, and the visa requirement is separate again. Here's the general shape — always confirm exact figures with your regulator before booking a test, since thresholds are reviewed periodically.
| Pathway | IELTS Academic | OET |
|---|---|---|
| Nursing & midwifery (NMC) | 7.0 overall, 6.5 in Writing | Grade B, C+ in Writing |
| Allied health (HCPC) | 7.0 overall, no band below 6.5 | Accepted since 2025, profession-specific |
| Doctors (GMC) | 7.5 overall, 7.0 in each section | Grade B in each section |
| Health & Care visa | IELTS UKVI, B2 level from Jan 2026 | Can also satisfy visa if regulator threshold is met |
OET is built around real clinical scenarios — referral letters, patient consultations — which tends to suit working healthcare staff better than IELTS's general topics. IELTS Academic or UKVI is usually the right call if you also need the result for a university place or a visa in one sitting.
Common questions about OET, IELTS & UK admissions.
The questions candidates actually search before booking a test or an interview.
Founded by clinicians. Built for people on both sides of registration.
MedFluent Academy was founded by a practising NHS paramedic based in Manchester, with a degree in Paramedic Practice from Edge Hill University, after years of teaching English alongside frontline clinical work. That clinical background shapes how the academy is run: our tutors know what NMC, HCPC, and NHS recruiters are actually listening for in an OET role-play or a registration interview, because they've sat on the clinical side of that conversation themselves.
Every tutor at MedFluent Academy is a practising or recently qualified UK healthcare professional who also teaches English — not a general language tutor working from a script. Alongside registration exam prep, the academy supports university admissions English, including personal statements and MMI-style interview practice, drawing on real clinical and cross-cultural experience gathered through work including volunteering with the Tokyo Fire Department, an emergency rescue foundation, and running CPR classes for children in Thailand.
